We are thrilled to announce that - further to a quick but much appreciated appearance at our Summer 2022 retreat – pioneers Peter Garrett and Jane Ball of Dialogue Associates will lead a two-day workshop on Professional Dialogue and its undeniable relevance to Team Coaching.
What will be covered:
In this 2 day course all three main aspects of Professional Dialogue will be considered and explored:
Dialogue as a mode is quite distinct from other Modes or forms of talking and thinking together, such as conversation and discussion. In Dialogue, the whole group is engaged in a generative way, enabling a shared understanding or a common context to emerge among the participants. This is particularly relevant to working with people in organisational change rather than doing things to or for them.
Dialogue as a Practice is fundamental to coaching both individuals and teams. The Dialogue Practices provide depth and integrity to thinking, communication and relationships as people work together. Using the Dialogue Practices naturally develops a group into a team, where people respect one another’s views and are helpfully transparent about their own experiences.
Dialogue as a Process is how a team extends it way of working into its interactions with other stakeholders. Organisations are inherently fragmented because of specialisation, hierarchy, and geographic location. As a result, people make decisions that affect others without involving them in the decision-making process. The dialogic process, called Implicate Change, is a means of making decisions in complex situations.
Three reasons you should consider joining:
1. A significant feature of the Dialogue work is the embodied or spatialised learning style. This is harder to replicate online, so it will be a great pleasure to be physically together in one room to engage dialogically, and to get the felt sense and ‘know how’ of the work in practice as well as the theoretical knowledge and specific skills. Please note that this is the only possibility to learn from Peter & Jane in a live setting during the first quarter of 2023.
2. This participatory workshop will be both introductory and help to deepen the skills of those who have already introduced dialogic skills into their Team Coaching practice. If you’ve enjoyed learning with Peter and Jane in 2022, you’ll love these two intensive days during which you will have the opportunity to learn at a deeper level and make Professional Dialogue a real part of your toolbox and offering.
3. This course is developed with you, the team coach, in mind. You will be joined by other team coaching practitioners. We suggest that together we make it our collective aim to reveal how team coaching and Professional Dialogue can enrich each other and help you find ways to contribute to that evolution.
When & where:
We will meet at the beautiful Chesil House in Winchester (UK) on the 23rd and 24th Feb’23.
